Former director of the interpreting department at the University of Geneva, Barbara Moser-Mercer. has recently been nominated as the winner of the prestigiuos Danica Seleskovitch Prize for outstanding services to interpreting. Barbara has conducted important research work on the cognitive process of simultaneous interpreters. The following article, published 4 years ago but still very current and fascinating, gives a unique insight into how simultaneous interpreters are able to understand and process language and content, becoming the ultimate multi-taskers. And two of our members were interviewed while at work at the IMO.
